A full bus and a full rally, the raffle on the bus going was won by Pat (g0ksk's wife) and the second prize went to Russ (m3gpr). After the recent bad weather it turned out to be a pleasant day out. We arrived at the Norbreck Castle Hotel at about 10:30am.  After a about 2 hours walking around the venue some of the group decided to take a walk down the Prom to get some food have a drink and see the site's. We even took a stroll on the beach, all in all it was a very good club trip and we set off back home at around 4:30pm

Thinking day on the Air with St Helens Guides

Working on IRLP and Echolink the guides had a great time chatting to other guides in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada on node 1350, with the help of Terry VE5HF he was working the callsign VE5AA. Some of the guides Terry put on at his end were Rebecca, Aminah and Rachel, I had the pleasure of making contact with Terry and the girls on Saturday but the biggest buzz was on Sunday when  guide spoke to fellow guides. Other contacts came from St Johns Newfoundland VO1ALF Phil, VO1AAC Chris and VO1XH Don, what made this contact special was some of the operators were working from Signal Hill in St Johns the very place that Marconi received the first radio message. Along with local 2mtr contacts and a couple on HF it was a very enjoyable day for all that took part.

All the club members agree that Wendy's home made pie and peas were fantastic. We had a good turn out for the first club meeting of 2005 as normally this is usually a slack week, but things are looking up and we are going from strength to strength.

South Yorkshire ARS Christmas party

What can I say ! for the first Christmas bash in the new building it went down great. Pete m3aqk supplied the music and every body contributed to the buffet ( bring and share ). The whole night was full of good food, company and a great atmosphere. I for one can not wait for the next party night.

July 2 nd 3 rd 4 th 2004

N.F.D. National Field Day vhf/uhf. Once again we will be working along side our friends from Mexborough radio club for this event. Listen out for the call signs G4BTS/P Mexb. vhf and M0CKY/P uhf . We will be working 23cm ( if we can find a operator to sit still long enough ).

Well what can I say but it RAINED again that's British weather for you. We got the tents up and the antennas although the van with the 2mtr beam in managed to get lost on the way to the field, but that's all a part and parcel of field day. 2mtr did well with contacts into France and Germany plus Northern Ireland and Eire, the 2mtr operators were Andy M0ALA, Ryan M3FXS and Dean M0LOU.  70cm plodded along as it does most years although the contacts were respectable and Ron G0TLA and Pete M3AQK did a sterling job. Saturday was BBQ night and we all had our fill helped along by Tom G0KSK and Gary G1YPR who did the cooking and serving. Despite all the bad weather everyone had a good time but the one person who stood out more than anybody was M3FXS who was shouting CQ and then M0ALA was taking over and taking the details it was Ryan's 1st field day and he was over the moon. Roll on next year and better weather.

June 18 th 19 th 20 th 2004

Conisbrough Castle International Museums Weekend GB8CC. Listen out for us on 40mtr and 20mtr HF and we will be working 2mtr for local contacts and node 5994 irlp 150110 echolink. Hopefully we will try to put on a fast scan station if possible. The weekend is being organized by Mr. John Williams of  SEAREG , South Yorkshire ARS and Mexborough & DARS will be helping out with radio operators and equipment. For more information on the location and amenities available At the Castle click on the following link to visit the web site    http://www.conisbroughcastle.org.uk/ .

Well on the first day it rained so much we nearly called it of, but we stuck at it and got the tents up and the doublet antenna. The antennas had to be in place before they closed the Keep for the night, so up to the top of the Keep we went "I'll count the steps next year" and we tied one end of the doublet to the top and rigged the 2mtr-70cm up as well. By 5:00pm the rain had just about stopped so we set up the radios and settled down to do some operating. Working on HF 2mtr and the node the contacts were soon coming in. QSL is by the Bureau or through George G0SSC direct, the cards are slightly different than last year "and they were so good I cant wait to get mine" .
